Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Candidate Obong Akanimo Udofia has promised retired civil servants the payment of their entitlements immediately after he takes over office as the governor of Akwa Ibom.
He made the commitment Thursday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital while addressing senior citizens retired civil servants,s and active primary school teachers, as well as some of their dependents and some state and local government pensioners at the AK Prosperity campaign office
Obong Udofia said the civil service is the nerve center of government activities therefore there is a need to ensure that workers’ welfare is made a priority.
While thanking them for their long wait for their entitlements to be paid which they are yet to receive, he encouraged them not to lose hope as their worries will soon be over as he assumes office on May 29.
Senior Citizens, Pensioners Back Obong Akanimo Udofia
Obong Akan Udofia told the retired civil servants that all senior citizens in Akwa Ibom will be duly accommodated in the scheme of things in the government of APC and advised them to ensure they vote APC in the March 18 governorship election.
He added that he will also give those who are still able to use their various skills and experience to serve their motherland and gave them the reassurance that he was ready to take on the role of leadership and governance

He promised to improve the civil service to meet the required standard of this century, and develop human capital in a very creative way to improve the lives of workers both in and outside of the workplace.
The chairman of the Pension Right Advocates, Elder Effiong Utip who spoke on their behalf bemoaned the situation they had been in for the past seven years
Elder Utip, stated that since their benefits had not been paid for the previous seven years, they had come to express their frustrations, and express their solidarity with Obong Akanimo Udofia’s governorship race
