In recent political developments, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed his commitment to ensuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the governorship seat of Akwa Ibom state in the 2027 elections.

Acknowledging the need for unity within the party, Akpabio called for immediate reconciliation among party members and emphasized the importance of a united front for successful electoral outcomes.
During a Stakeholders’ Meeting in Uyo, Akpabio instructed the chairman of the APC in Akwa Ibom state, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, to establish a reconciliation committee to address any differences within the party.

The goal is to unite the party and position it for a takeover of government in the state in 2027.
Senator Akpabio emphasized the need for party members to fully commit to the APC and refrain from working against the party’s interest by supporting other political groups.
He emphasized the importance of party unity and the exclusion of “in-between” affiliations.
The Senate President outlined plans to resolve internal party issues and advised those attempting to straddle multiple parties to make a clear choice. He expressed optimism about the 2027 elections, highlighting the expectation that the APC, as an opposition party in the state, should emerge victorious.

The Senate President questioned the possibility of the third-highest-ranking official in Nigeria not producing a governor from the same party, given his position as Senate President.
Akpabio referred to his personal campaign experience in Uyo and Eket senatorial districts, expressing disappointment at not being invited to rally support for the APC in those areas.
