The Nigeria Professional Football League Match day 33 saw the race for the 2023/2024 league title heats up as Lobi stars lost to Akwa United by 1-2 goals  thanks who Sani Suleiman who scored a brace for Akwa United before Abubakar Ibrahim Aliyu pulled one back for Lobi. Lobi Stars are now on a four-game winless run

Akwa United who jump from the relegation zone to occupy th 15th place on the NPFL log has 40 points.

The team have been in the news on different media platforms of the media lately with a call for the sack of the club’s chairman following the poor outing  of the club in the 2023/2024 football season
