Nigeria, Africa not Aware Akwa Ibom State has Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)

Must read

“Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) is an umbrella term covering all maintenance parts used for repairs or to support production operations”

Our attention was drawn to  Hon. Keyamo on Arise TV. He said that in the whole of West Africa there Is no MRO and that they are currently talking with Airbus and Boeing to establish one.

The question now is what is happening with the one located in AKS?

The Akwa Ibom Airport(VAIA) was conceptualized by erstwhile governor Obong Victor Attah  to Include an MRO facilities about 18 years ago.

Nigeria, Africa not Aware Akwa Ibom State has MRO

It is in public domain that, there was a contract between  Boeing company and Akwa Ibom government to service all their Aircrafts coming into Africa etc, one of the reasons strict specifications for the Airport were drawn.

Therefore, indigenes  were nominated and proceeded abroad for training on how to maintain, operate and run our proposed MRO and Airport  facilities on completion.

Year after year we see publicity about the MRO etc especially near election seasons.

Are Akwa Ibom people being told the truth or are being blinded? Is it a bubble project as it is being alluded to projects under past administrations?

It is worrisome and disheartening indeed and people must ask questions before it is too late.

If there is already a foundation (MRO) in our state, what is the requirement to bring it up and running?

If there is  an existing agreement with any of the named concerns? if yes, why is  there a move to start another by the FGN according to the Minister of Aviation in the same country? Can this be true?

Why is the godly truth about  our MRO investment shrouded in secrecy?

Is  the  investment safe or gone down the drain as usual ??.

The level of docility is certainly getting close to nothing but something in the realm of being under the influence of a negative ogre on the part of not only the people but successors to power.

The originators of the legacy projects of MRO, Deep seaport and Power generation etc could be likened to ones who saw tomorrow but sadly those who came after seem to have “made a meal” out of these.

Instead of thinking of the overall strategic impact on the economy of the state they have been doing otherwise.

Why the snail speed?

Our dear sister of blessed memory Christie Essien had sang a song years back with lyrics “time waits for no one, no one waits for time”.

Today the Lekki deep sea started after, is up and running and now an MRO which has been built (as boasted by Udom) is about being overtaken by events.

Is this the fate of Akwa Ibom state in present reoccurring  political dispensation ?

Will other areas and interests yearning for development, opportunities  wait for Akwa Abasi Ibom State?  It is depressing.

Obviously not and therefore, those who have voice must speak up now. We are witnessing a gradual downing!!! When we should be going higher. What are those standing committees doing about all of  these?
