Residents of Abak Local Government Area, and its environs, who had various health challenges, had cause to smile recently, following a one-day free Medical Outreach organized for them by the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Uyo.
Speaking at the occasion, Head of the delegation, Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs for Monitoring/Inspection of civil-military cooperation activities under Exercise STILL WATER 2021, Cornel C.A. OSUAGWU said as part of the constitutional mandate the army also engages in what he termed, civil-military activities, such as medical outreach, sporting competition, sanitation and construction of boreholes among others.
According to Cornel OSUAGWU, the Abak free medical outreach is part of activities lined up for the conduct of Exercise STILL WATER 2021 for the Akwa Ibom sector.
He noted that the two Brigade, Nigerian Army had earlier organized similar exercises in other places including the Ukanafun Local government area, and assured the people that more medical programmes will be mounted in other local government areas of the state.

The head of the delegation tasked the people to be law-abiding and support all security agencies, stressing no country can develop without peace.
Cornel OSUAGWU thanked the commander, two Brigade for a job well done, and the people for coming out to take part in the exercise.
The free medical outreach featured, vital signs check, medical consultation, eye test, laboratory test, and drug dispensation.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to AKBC news expressed appreciation to the Nigerian army for the gesture.
Reports say the delegation from the Army Headquarters was accompanied by the 2-Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Muhammad Inuwa, and 2-Brigade Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Dauda Seghosime.
