The political enemies of progress have reared their heads again — this time with a vicious rumour designed to distract, destabilize, and discredit a man who has brought uncommon peace and purposeful leadership to Akwa Ibom State — His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.
A baseless and cowardly lie of defection to another party has flooded the airwaves, not because it is true, but because some individuals cannot stand the light of good governance he represents.
Alleged Defection: An Unfounded Smear
Let the truth be told: Governor Umo Eno is not defecting anywhere.
He remains a proud son of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform that gave him the mandate to lead, and the vehicle through which he is transforming lives across the 31 local government areas of the state.
Those peddling the rumour of defection are enemies of the people — political merchants whose only stock-in-trade is confusion, division, and sabotage.
They are threatened by his success, and they fear his rising popularity.
But the people of Akwa Ibom are not fools. They can see through the smokescreen.
This is not just about a rumour; it is a calculated assault on the will of the people. It is a wicked attempt to smear the integrity of a governor who has chosen the path of service over politics, development over division, and adding dahumility over arrogance.
Why are these political jobbers so afraid of Governor Umo Eno? The answer is simple. He is working. He is delivering. He is winning hearts. Under his leadership, roads are being constructed where there were none. Farms are being revived.
SMEs are growing. Tourism is blooming. Peace has returned to rural communities. Akwa Ibomites are regaining their pride, their voice, and their future.
This is the real issue. The detractors cannot match his performance, so they resort to lies. They cannot replicate his humility, so they resort to intimidation. They cannot bear his popularity, so they manufacture defection tales to shake his base. But they have failed before, and they will fail again!
Let it be declared across the length and breadth of Akwa Ibom: Governor Umo Eno is not for sale. He is not distracted. He is not defecting. He is focused.
His mission is divine. His mandate is sacred. And no amount of rumour-mongering can uproot a tree planted by God and watered by the people’s votes.
Even more shameful are the threats being directed at him — subtle warnings, dark whispers, and veiled ultimatums.
This is the height of desperation! Is this how low politics has sunk? A governor elected by millions now being threatened for a lie he never uttered? It is an insult not just to him but to the entire people of Akwa Ibom State. It is an affront to democracy. It is a disgrace to nationhood.

But we say, enough is enough! No one has the right to intimidate our governor. No one has the moral authority to question his loyalty when he has consistently pledged allegiance to the PDP and has never acted outside the party’s vision.
Where were these political bullies when Umo Eno stood shoulder to shoulder with the people in the trenches of the 2023 elections? Where were they when he crisscrossed the state with his “Arise Agenda,” offering real plans for real people?
They are cowards. And like cowards, they fight with shadows and slander because they lack the courage to confront the truth.
The truth is this: Umo Eno is not only the governor Akwa Ibom needs, he is the leader Nigeria must emulate. Calm, compassionate, visionary — a rare blend of pastor and politician whose only crime is that he refuses to play dirty.
We call on all well-meaning Akwa Ibomites to rally around their governor. This is no time for silence. The time has come to defend the truth, to reject the lies, and to expose the enemies of progress hiding behind anonymity. Let every ward, village, town, and city rise and say with one voice: Hands off our governor!
Let the world know that in Akwa Ibom, we reward excellence, not betrayal. We protect visionaries, not vilify them. We celebrate those who serve the people with sincerity and not those who use propaganda to divide them.
We are a people of peace, but we will not sit idle while our leader is dragged through the mud by faceless agents of political anarchy.
The records are clear. Governor Umo Eno is not just succeeding — he is setting a new standard. His inclusive leadership style has united stakeholders across political lines. His development blueprint is realistic and achievable. His humility and accessibility are a breath of fresh air in a political environment often choked by arrogance. This is the man they want to pull down. But they will not succeed.
Let this message ring loud and clear: No weapon formed against Governor Umo Eno shall prosper.
Those planning to derail him will end up disgraced. Those cooking lies will eat the bitter fruit of their deceit. And those threatening him will face the wrath of a people whose collective destiny he carries.
Umo Eno is not just a man. He is a movement. He is a mission. He is the future. And the future is now!
