The recent bye– elections in Akwa Ibom state have witnessed various reactions from the People Democratic Party (PDP) members.
It has been reported that some members of the party have expressed their discontent and decided to oppose the candidacy of Glory Edet and Godwin Ekpo and the inability of the party to bring out resources to finance the elections.
The reasons for this opposition are not entirely clear, but political disagreements and intra-party tensions are not uncommon, and they can arise due to various factors such as differing ideologies, personal conflicts, or dissatisfaction with party leadership.
Peoples Democratic Party Disappoints Glory Edet, Godwin Ekpo

As such, it is crucial to closely monitor the situation and observe any developments as they unfold. Ultimately, the outcome of these elections depended on the voters’ decisions and the overall support that the candidates garnered from the electorate.

It will be interesting to witness how events evolve and how the PDP, as well as other parties, respond to these internal challenges leading up to the Election Day which saw Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate Emmanuel Ukpong-udo declared the winner of the Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency seat
Ukpong-udo polled a total of 24,050 votes to defeat his closest rival Dr Glory Edet of the People’s Democratic Party who got 17,282 votes.
With this declaration by INEC, Rep. Ukpong-udo has been duly returned as the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikono-Ini 2023 – 2027
The situation in Ibiono Ibom state house of assembly rerun was not different from that of Ikono/Ini. YPP candidate Moses Eshiet was declared the winner by INEC
