Members of the State Executive Council have been charged to double their efforts in ensuring timely delivery of projects under their care, paying particular attention to quality.

Governor Udom Emmanuel gave the charge at the State Executive Council Meeting he presided over at Government House Uyo.

According to Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Emem-Obong, who briefed government house correspondents on the outcome of the meeting, the Governor also assured that steps have been taken to beef up security throughout the festive season.

Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State has recorded a progressive improvement in performance by candidates who registered for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE in the past three years.

According to a report presented to the state executive council by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, 58.55 percent of candidates passed with credit in more than five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics in 2019, 68 percent in 2020, and 78.9 percent in 2021.

Comrade Emem-Obong said Council commended the Education Commissioner after exhaustive deliberations on the report and charged the Ministry to double up efforts for improved performance by candidates in future examinations.

On the state of Power for All, an Initiative launched by the state government with the intent to link all communities to the National grid, the Commissioner said about ninety-two percent of all gazetted villages in the state have been connected already.

He assured that the few remaining villages would be linked in less than no time.

According to the brief by Comrade Emem-Obong, the state executive council session of Thursday, December 30 reviewed performance in the year 2021 and also set the template for improved governance in the year 2022.
