The fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, scheduled for July 24 in Las Vegas, has been postponed after the Briton tested positive for coronavirus. According to a source close to Fury, the WBC world heavyweight champion is extremely frustrated with the situation. Fury tested positive on Thursday, and the fight was called off after discussions with medical experts; it is expected to be rescheduled for October. Deontay is disappointed,” Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel said. Top Rank is expected to make an official announcement later on Friday. Fury defeated Wilder to win the WBC title in February 2020, 14 months after the two had a thrilling draw in Los Angeles. Since Fury’s victory in Las Vegas, neither man has fought.

After a third fight was postponed several times due to complications related to the Covid 19 pandemic, Fury sought to move on and face fellow Briton Anthony Joshua, who holds the other three major heavyweight titles.

However, an arbitration hearing determined that Wilder had contractual grounds for a third contest. Fury is unbeaten in 31 fights, while Wilder has only one loss in 44. According to reports the delay also jeopardizes Fury’s chances of facing Anthony Joshua later this year in a unification showdown.”
