vision for Akwa Ibom

They said  ‘news’ which is published as a banner headline on the front page with continuation at page 9 of the Wednesday 27th October 2021 edition of the said paper without a byline, is as fictitious as the false claims and smacks of the handiwork of mischief-makers.

The cooked up story according to AKWA IBOM INTEGRITY ALLIANCE which generously uses the term, ‘alleged(ly)’, cited an unnamed student who the report claims said the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources,  Pastor Umo Eno, was involved in examination malpractice in the  University and is to be expelled by the institution.

The disjointed story also purports that, the Police arrested an impersonator hired by the  Commissioner to write exams for him.

It is curious to note that neither the Police Station to which the culprit was taken, the Investigating Police Officer nor the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the said case is mentioned, beyond these, not even one agent of the University of Uyo is mentioned to give credibility to the report.

“What is however sad is that the rag-tag Tabloid throws the ethics of journalism practice to the wind and surrendered its platform to falsehood.”

“Having conducted a careful research on all these allegations and claims, we wish to state that the story from all intents and purposes is false and a creation of the bellicose imagination of the author and his sponsors and should be ignored in its totality”.

“As an independent integrity organization, we make bold to state that there is no substance in the allegations. We are not unaware that there is a political undertone to the new wave of weekly blackmail all targeted at the commissioner who has been so passionate in his duty position, for an undisclosed reason. This latest attempt to cry wolf where there is none smacks an exercise in futility”.

“Pastor Umo Eno is a Doctoral student of good standing in the University of Uyo completed his course work and concluded all examinations as far back as 2018, is currently working on his thesis”.

A statement endorsed by the  Convener AKWA IBOM INTEGRITY ALLIANCE,  Comrade Faith Mboho shows the organization urging the  Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources to ignore the ramblings of the paid media assassin’s and continue in his service as a reputable Minister of the Gospel as well as the businessman turned public servant.
