According to reports, Akwa United’s striker, Wisdom Fernando is still affiliated with the Nigeria Professional League team Akwa United Fc
This brings to end rumours of the termination of his contract with the Uyo club after four years.
The media officer of Akwa United, Mfon Patrick confirmed this in a telephone call with starwiness.com.ng
The rumor on most Nigeria dailies has it that the player left because the club’s management had disagreed with him and couldn’t come to terms on a new contract.
Fernando was spotted at a friendly match venue between Akwa United and Bayelsa United on Saturday morning.

However, if the rumour was to be true, it would not have been the first time Akwa United have refused to sign new deals with players who can keep the club on a sound footing in the league.
Reports have it that the management has been insensitive to the welfare of players despite the huge amount of funds released by the state government.
The club is yet to make known to the public its plans for the 2023-2024 league season as done by other football clubs in Nigeria.
It has also failed to manage information well to help journalists who require it to write their stories and help the club in its image-making.

To tell you that the club means no good for the upcoming 2023-2024 season, the Enyimba FC of Aba in a pre-season friendly in Uyo a couple of days ago defeated Akwa United by 3-1 goals which spells a bad omen for the Promise Keepers. Their match with Bayelsa United which ended 1-1 was nothing to write home about.
If Fernando and other players are allowed to leave without replacing them with far better players will be a thing of worry to football Fans,
Wisdom Fernando playing for the Promise Keepers has made over 62 appearances.
Fernando is a member of the team that captured the league championship in 2020–21 season.
starwitness.com.ng has it on authority that the 21-year-old who is still in the club may not be negotiating a transfer to a foreign club.
