Zenith Bank PLC congratulates Akwa United Football Club for winning 2020/2021 NPFL title

A financial institution in Nigeria, Zenith Bank PLC has congratulated Akwa United Football Club for winning the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League title.

Top management staff of the institution led by the Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head of the Bank in Akwa Ibom State Asuquo Ita commended the club for their consistency and doggedness throughout the just concluded season and added that the team’s success was a reward for hard work.

“We are here to heartily congratulate and celebrate with Akwa United for lifting the 2020/2021 NPFL trophy. We have been carefully following the progress of team since the start of the season and we are proud to identify with worthy Champions, Akwa United.

“The just concluded campaign was long and very competitive season, but Akwa United showed class and determination, so emerging as the Champions is not really a surprise news to us at Zenith bank because we know the effort and commitment that the team made throughout the season, and the victory was indeed divine.

“On behalf of Zenith Bank PLC, we say congratulations for winning the NPFL title for the first time, and we wish the team a successful campaign in Africa’s premier competition, the CAF Champions League later this year”.

The bank’s Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head was accompanied during the visit by Idongesit Udom, Deputy Manager,  Aniebiet David, Relationship Manager and Irene Akpabio, Senior Assistant Manager Zenith Bank PLC.

The bank staff presented a giant congratulatory card to the club. Chairman of the club, Elder Paul Bassey and Akwa United’s stand-in Captain Wilson Elu received the Zenith Bank delegation and commended them for their support.

In his response, the Chairman of the club Elder Paul Bassey expressed appreciation to Zenith Bank for identifying with the team and observed that the club needs such morale boosting encouragement and support to do more in the coming season.

Elder Bassey thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for his financial and moral support to the team, which he said was the motivating factor behind the team’s success.

The club boss also extended appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Sir Monday Ebong Uko for always standing by the team.

“We can’t thank you enough for your support and encouragement to us as a club, we really appreciate your show of love and this visit will spur us to continue to do our best in bringing glory and honor to all our wonderful fans and supporters”. Elder Bassey said.

Akwa United emerged champions of the just concluded NPFL season, finishing top of the log with 71 points from 38 matches, comprising 19 wins, 14 draws with just five defeats.
