2022 Commonwealth Games
welcome

Does the Nigeria Judo Federation have any explanation for excluding the biggest female judoka in Nigeria, Enku Ekuta (63kg women) from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom?

They also frustrated her from participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. No one is happy about this situation. The fraud that is going on in Nigeria should stop by now and tribalism in the sports circle of Nigeria should stop.

This also should be a wakeup call for the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of sports to rise up to the challenge to ensure Enku Ewa is part of the team to the commonwealth games

Enku’s mother is a multiple national judo champion, African champion, champion of all African games, and Olympian. Enku Ewa is a National Youth Games Champion, National Sports Festival Champion, Nigerian University Games Gold Medal (NUGA), West African University Games Gold Medal (WAUG), former Champion African.

Enku Ekuta won a silver medal at the African Judo Open 2019 in Cameroon and a bronze medal at the African Judo Open 2019 in Senegal. The young judoka became African champion at the 2020 African Judo Open in Senegal and later in 2020 won a bronze medal at the 41st Senior African Championship in Madagascar.

Enku Ekuta became the first Nigerian to compete at a Grand Slam in a decade and she narrowly missed out on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Accugas decided to send the young judoka to Edinburgh Judo Club in Scotland in April, thinking she had a better chance of making Nigeria proud at the Commonwealth Games but lo and behold she was advised to come to Nigeria for a National Trials in June.

We don’t know if the Nigerian Judo Federation held its trials, but it is common knowledge that the Federation submitted a list to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports with the missing name Enku Ekuta

Well, we would like to believe that the president of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, is unaware of this development because many of us hold him in high esteem or the sins of the father and of the mother will they soon be afflicted over the children?
