In 2023, Akwa Ibom state will hold its gubernatorial election, and the majority of people have predicted what may happen. While some people base their arguments on current events, particularly the litigations in progress, others often base their predictions on the caliber and reputation of the candidates.
Recently, one commentator suggested that the contest is between the NNPP candidate and YPP, drawing a line to exclude Pastor Umo Eno of the PDP.
No matter the perspective, I am convinced that basing the outcome of the 2023 election on a legal dispute over the PDP candidate Umo Eno’s certificate would be counterproductive.
I believe it is subjudice and a disservice to continually think about a case that is currently in court. I will therefore resist the urge to debate or disagree with anyone regarding the case. In actuality, with only five months until the election, Umo Eno has not been replaced and will not be.
Because the parties are most likely to file for an appeal in any direction the pendulum swings, this is the reason. Defendant will undoubtedly request a stay of execution if the balance tips in favor of the plaintiff. Additionally, you can be sure that it will go all the way to the Supreme Court because it is a pre-election matter (in a sense).

Election results should be official by now. There is no debate regarding the PDP’s candidates, therefore. In actuality, all election-related court proceedings must be concluded before swearing in, as required by the Electoral Act (as amended).
I completely agree with some commentators who have said that “politics is local” and that voters’ perceptions of candidates’ backgrounds, records of public service, and moral character will be important factors in their voting decisions. Here is how history unfolds. The voters of Akwa Ibom will choose peace. The peace-loving residents of Akwa Ibom State will not cast their votes for anyone who was involved in politically motivated murders, kidnappings, or other acts of violence.
Those who adore the state do not want a return to Akwa Ibom’s bloody, violent past, when the region was designated by the federal government as a “flash point.”. Everyone is aware that if not for the current administration, gangsterism and those seeking power would have reached their peak by this point, leading to an increase in kidnappings and assassinations. Everyone can now campaign without restriction and go to bed peacefully.
Nobody wants to put such a priceless legacy of freedom and peace at risk for feckless politicians. Consequently, a large number of people will continue to support the PDP.
Message.
Since public relations messages frequently reflect morals and values, they are sometimes referred to as “earned media” rather than “paid media.”. It is also important to note that messages also, to a large extent, reflect not only character, but competence of its owner.
So what message do Umo Eno’s opponents have? They reveal a candidate’s knowledge base and leadership potential. For instance, if we hear that someone is proposing to create 1000 millionaires in each council area, this may sound like hogwash and amounts to underestimating the people because the business of government is not primarily about sharing money; rather, it is about allocating necessary resources equitably with good and sustainable policies that regulate and encourage free trade and enterprise.

The organized layers of the party with powerful representatives at all levels are what we mean when we talk about the structure of the party. Right now, no known base is known to exist for either the YPP or the NNPP. In contrast to them, the PDP candidates for a range of positions, including councilors, the chairman, assemblymen, and commissioners, are active in their campaigns. They will all report to work. It is such a strong, difficult structure to overtake.
The ingrained interest in and loyalty to the party are also factors in this. PDP is a party with a well-known track record of accomplishments. Everyone, including some of the APC’s most ardent supporters, must be in disbelief over the debacle that has been the APC starting at the federal level, I am confident.
With a combined financial war chest from the private sector interests that Umo Eno represents, the PDP again has the advantage of being in office.
In the governorship election of 2023, all of these factors and more could give Umo Eno the advantage and the win.
