During Saturday’s PDP Ward Meeting in Ukana West Ward 2, the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency and chairman of the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, empowered 15 constituents with a Business Support Grant of 100,000 each.
Less than a day later, he gave each of the 20 additional constituents in Ukana East Ward a grant of 100,000 to support their small-scale businesses in the neighborhood.
The lawmaker who presented his constituents with the donation said that he would continue to keep his promise to hold monthly empowerment events throughout Essien Udim’s wards.
In his remarks to the crowd, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, the Essien Udim representative, thanked the residents of Ukana East for their support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Umo Eno, and him during the general election of 2023.
In keeping with his promise to organize monthly empowerment programs rotated among the wards in Essien Udim, he said his decision to empower 10 women and 10 youth in Ukana East was in line with his campaign promise.
He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the policy until the day he leaves office.
As he prepared to close the gap between the leader and the leader, Prince Akpabio assured his people that he operated under an open-door policy and that his doors would always be open to all.
“I pledged to you all during my campaign that I would change the perception of legislative representation. I promised you that I would fight for measures that put the needs of my constituents first, including motions, bills, and policies. I pledge not to let you down.
For the benefit of the people of Essien Udim, he promised, “My voice will be heard and it will reverberate both inside and outside the floor of the 8th Assembly.”.
The lawmaker vowed to always protect Ukana East Ward’s interests and see to it that they benefited from the numerous empowerment initiatives planned for the public’s good by the Umo Eno-led administration in Akwa Ibom state.
In order to manage crises and practice good governance, Prince Akpabio advised them to always make use of the various channels of communication by getting in touch with him and the state government through their various ward community leaders and the party structure.
The Ward Leader, Barr. Martin Umanah, who also spoke thanked the lawmaker for remembering the people who had elected him to office and vowed that character, ability, and competence would never again be sacrificed for zoning.
He praised Prince Akpabio for earning the votes he received through his performance in less than 100 days in office and urged him to keep up the momentum and set higher standards for legislative representation.
On behalf of the recipients, Mr. Mfon Akpan Udofia thanked the lawmaker for keeping his word and not forgetting the sacrifice made by the residents of Ukana East.

He assured the lawmaker of the Ward’s ongoing solidarity with the PDP and the government of Umo Eno.
Former House of Representatives member Hon. Sunyiekekere Inokon, former ALGON chairman and representative for the state of Essien Udim, Rt. Hon. Sir Nse Ntuen, former representative for the state of Etim Ekpo/Ika, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Toby, and the chairman of the Essien Udim PDP Chapter, Hon. Cyril Udoh, were present to give the beneficiaries the cash grant.
The beneficiaries are Simeon Udo Usoro, Innocent John David, Alexander Sampson Udo, Eno Stephen Ukpong, Mfon Akpan Udofia, Etim Micheal Akpan, Susana Anthony Akwaowo, Charles Patrick Iba, Susana Gaul Ekanem, and Augustine Joseph Umoh. Others include Emem Ibanga Udoaka, Nseno Christopher Umanah, Sunday John Abon, Mrs. Victoria Nicholas Okon, Gloria Innocent Eniedu, Regina Okon Akan, Mrs. Ikwo Monday Jeremiah, Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel Ben, Emmanuel John Bernard, and Udim Udoudo Idiong.
