Addressing a trending video allegedly released by a family member concerning the death of his late wife, Umo Eno made it clear: his family remains united, and no amount of distraction will derail his commitment to Akwa Ibom people.
Governor Umo Eno Breaks Silence on Viral Family Video
The video, which resurfaced on social media shortly before the governor’s second anniversary in office, has stirred public attention. But according to Umo Eno, the timing is no coincidence. “We are in political times,” he said, speaking with Government House correspondents at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, during the 60th birthday celebration of former deputy governor Obong Nsima Ekere. “So you can expect more of that. My family is intact, and you can see everyone here with me.”

Governor Umo Eno didn’t mince words as he addressed the pain such insinuations cause. Referring to the incident in the video, which allegedly happened shortly after his wife’s passing last year, he questioned why it’s trending now. “Why is it on the eve of the second anniversary, when we are celebrating the milestones we have achieved?” Th asked. The answer, he implied, lies with detractors who would rather distract than support progress.
What stood out, however, wasn’t just his calm response but the visible show of unity. “You can see that Jane herself is here; that’s Helen and her husband. So, we have a good family,” The governor affirmed, noting that grief affects children in different ways and should be approached with empathy. “The pressure on the children when they lose a loved one can be traumatic.”
The Governor also made a heartfelt appeal to the public. “It is enough that I have lost my wife, and I pray that they allow her peaceful soul to rest in peace.” Despite the emotional weight, Umo Eno stood firm in his resolve, reiterating that nothing would distract him from the ARISE Agenda. “I remain focused,” Umo Eno said, “and I will continue to serve the people of Akwa Ibom.”
