Governor Emmanuel sues for unity as Akwa Ibom marks 33 anniversary

The State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel has cautioned people in Akwa Ibom against creating unnecessary political tension over issues and called on them to allow God fulfill His purpose for the state.

Governor Emmanuel gave the advice at a special Thanksgiving service organized by the state government to usher in the 33rd Anniversary of Akwa Ibom and the 60th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.

The governor noted that at 33, Akwa Ibom has recorded credible achievements and would continue to build on economic foundations laid so far.

Governor Emmanuel took the only Bible reading from Numbers 10:1-10 at the service which had as theme; ‘Remember Me Oh Lord.

Highlighting the significance of the number 33 from the times of Noah in the Bible, David to Jesus Christ, in the Bible, the governor expressed confidence that at 33, more wins would be recorded for the state.

While acknowledging God for His Grace upon the state in the past three decades, he sued for unity, stressing that faces of leaders may Change, but Akwa Ibom state would remain.

The Governor used the avenue to appreciate past governors and leaders at various times in the state’s history, even as he commended security chiefs for working with the government to maintain peace in the state.

He announced on plans to unveil a flag, Creed and anthem for the state as part of activities marking the state’s 33rd anniversary in order to solidify the state’s identity.

The Deputy National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis Wale Oke who preached on the theme ‘Remember Me Oh Lord’, said the Lord would remember the land because the state has come to thank God.

Bishop Wale prayed for continued progress in the state and also prayed for the governor, his family and Akwa Ibomites all over the world.

The service which held at Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo was attended by a cross section of Akwa Ibom people.

A renowned Gospel Singer from Akwa Ibom, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey anchored the worship and praise session at the service with special renditions by Government House Divine Voices.
