As Akwa Ibom turns, thirty-three, on 23rd September 2020, the state government has commenced activities to celebrate the state anniversary.
It could be recalled that the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel had earlier directed the suspension of the usual public celebration scheduled to mark 33rd anniversary of the state creation.
However, release by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong indicates that the celebration started with a thanksgiving service at banquet Hall Government House Uyo.
According to the release, there will be a state broadcast by the State Governor on Wednesday 23rd September 2020 by 7am to mark the 33rd anniversary of state creation, while the presentation of emblem, flag, coat of arms and anthem of the state will hold 11am same day at Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo and is strictly on invitation.
Also on Wednesday 23rd September, 2020, commissioning of Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs Complex and Swearing in as well as presentation of staff of office to a new Paramount Ruler will hold by noon.
The release further shows that inauguration of the remodeled Emmanuel General Hospital Eket and commissioning of internal roads in Eket will take place on Thursday 24th September 2020 by 10am, while the commissioning of General Hospital, Awa, Onna and Ikot Ebekpo-Ikot Ebidang road, Onna will hold on Friday 25th September 2020 by 10am.
The release states that Covid 19 protocols will be strictly observed at all the events.
