A statement from the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,   Frank Archibong, says the village chief was found guilty of gross negligence of poor leadership and dereliction of duty caused by his inability to maintain peace and order in his region, resulting in violence and serious violations considered detrimental to state security and in violation of the Akwa State Traditional Rulers Act Ibom.
Meanwhile, according to the statement, Eteidung Edem Ebong was ordered to hand over government properties he owned to village council chairman Edidiong Effiong, who would oversee community affairs during his suspension.

It is recalled that on Sunday, November 13, 2022, part of the Oron/Airport strategic road at Ifa Ikot Akpan between the metropolis and Victor Attah International Airport and key points in the State was blocked and made impassable by young people and angry women by Ifa Ikot Akpan.

The above chaos has embarrassed the government and people of Akwa Ibom State due to the obstruction which has hampered free movement and resulted in severe disruption of peace and security in and around the area.
Again, it was also reported that the same angry youths and women in the area were taking the laws into their own hands and obstructing the construction of government projects in the community.
