Shortly after receiving the endorsement of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and stakeholders in the state chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, paid a consultation visit to an Elder Statesman and former Governor, Obong Victor Attah, at his Shelter Afrique residence in Uyo.

National Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, National Secretary, Prince Enobong Uwah, National Executive Officers of MPM, Commissioners, House of Assembly members, Board Chairmen and Council Chairmen, led by the Chairman of the state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria,  Mr. Iniobong Robson, were also present.

During the visit, Chief Assam Assam, SAN, former State Attorney General and former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia, thanked Obong Attah for what he has done for Akwa Ibom State, noting that his singular efforts have made the state the toast and envy of other states in the country.

He explained that Team Umo Eno’s visit was intended to present the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources to him in exchange for his blessings following his adoption and endorsement by Akwa Ibom stakeholders.

Chief Assam praised Obong Attah for his resource management efforts, noting that “that single contribution by Obong Attah propelled Akwa Ibom into the comity of states and made Akwa Ibom the envy of all other states in the country.”

Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, National Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement, said the visit to Obong Attah, the first consultation following the official unveiling of Pastor Umo Eno, was symbolic and significant.

Barr Enoidem described Obong Attah as a believer in the Akwa Ibom project who fought for the retention and preservation of the wealth God has bestowed upon the state.

Senator Akon Eyakenyi, speaking on behalf of the Eket Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom women, noted with delight that the selection of Pastor Umo Eno was timely, assuring that the enthusiasm of the people is an indication that Akwa Ibom people are ready to run with the Umo Eno project.

Speaking on behalf of the Uyo Senatorial District, Prince Dr. Godwin Ntukudeh stated that the delegation was at Attah’s residence to honor him for who he is.

According to Dr. Ntukudeh, Akwa Ibom State is now reaping the benefits of the resource control struggle Obong Attah championed, noting that the State would not be where it is today if he had not fought to the end.

During the visit, the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, thanked Obong Attah for mentoring him at a young age and for always encouraging him to succeed in business and public service.

He recalled that the former Governor appointed him as Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Tourism Board, and he thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for giving him a second chance at public service, as well as Obong Attah for his support.

He recalled how, despite the fact that his father died when he was only 23 years old, God had always raised destiny helpers at every stage of his life.

Obong Attah responded by thanking Team Umo Eno for honoring him and describing Pastor Umo Eno as a man of integrity.

He stated that no one could have chosen Pastor other than God and advised him to maintain his integrity and unite Akwa Ibom.

Meanwhile, Pastor Umo Eno has stated that his background and training will continue to propel him to respect constituted authorities, and that no amount of media attacks will deter him.

He stated this when he met with Ettenyin Solomon Etuk, the Paramount Ruler of Nsit-Ubium, and Oku Ibom Ibibio, at his palace in Ikot Ukobo.

Pastor Eno, the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, stated that he was in the palace of the monarch, whom he refers to as his father, to seek the monarch’s royal blessing.

In his response, Ettenyin Solomon Etuk, President General of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, congratulated Pastor Umo Eno and his team on their visit and offered his royal blessing and fatherly advice to Pastor Eno.

As a royal father, he said his doors are open to all, and he urged political actors to play by the rules.

Earlier, Chief Assam Assam, the DG of his campaign team, described Umo Eno as the preferred choice who has what it takes to consolidate on the development agenda of the Udom Emmanuel led administration National Chairman of MPM, Barr.

Emmanuel Enoidem stated that the state’s leadership under Governor Udom Emmanuel has done exceptionally well and that the state’s economic prosperity must be sustained, and he presented Umo Eno as the man with the vision to drive the process.

Senator Effiong Bob, the political leader of Nsit-Ubium, also spoke and described the pastor as an asset capable of sustaining the vision of a greater Akwa Ibom.

Arc. Iniobong Orok, Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, praised Governor Udom Emmanuel for selecting his successor from the Local Government Area, saying the gesture was greatly appreciated and assuring that such an opportunity would not be traded for anything else.
