Energy and Maritime Reporters Inaugurate Akwa Ibom State Executive Council

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Energy and Maritime Reporters has inaugurated its executive council, with Mr. Harrison Ndifreke emerging as Chairman to steer the affairs of the association.

The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening professional reporting and collaboration within the energy and maritime sectors in the state.

Members expressed optimism that the new leadership would promote ethical journalism, capacity building, and effective coverage of developments in the two critical sectors of the economy.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Harrison Ndifreke, pledged to work with members to advance the objectives of the association and enhance the visibility of energy and maritime issues through responsible journalism.

Other members of the executive council inaugurated include Mrs. Mabel Ekanem as Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Ekpa as Treasurer, and Mrs. Helen John as Vice Chairman.

Also inaugurated were Mrs. Deborah Young as Auditor, Mr. Ofonime Honesty as Assistant Secretary, and Mr. Udeme Utip as Public Relations Officer (PRO).

The welfare portfolio will be handled by Mr. Unyime Ekwere, KSJ, while Comrade Solomon Okpo will serve as Director of Programmes. Mrs. Diananasi Effionga was inaugurated as Director of Marketing.

Members of the association described the emergence of the new executive as a reflection of their commitment to strengthening the organization and promoting professionalism among journalists covering the energy and maritime sectors.

The association is expected to play a strategic role in highlighting issues relating to energy development, maritime operations, blue economy initiatives, environmental sustainability, and other matters of public interest within Akwa Ibom State and beyond.

The newly inaugurated executive is expected to commence work immediately, with plans to foster unity among members, engage stakeholders in the industry, and contribute to informed public discourse on energy and maritime affairs.
