Gov. Udom Emmanuel has urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to put an end to the current strike and reopen the universities so that students can resume their studies.
This is stated in a statement made on his behalf by Mr. Bola Bolawole, spokesperson for the Udom Emmanuel Presidential Council.
The FG and ASUU, according to Governor Emmanuel, need to get off their high horses in order to prevent a catastrophe from affecting the nation’s educational system if the strike by the ASUU is not quickly ended and the universities reopen for classes.

The statement claimed that there were already discussions about withdrawing recognition of university diplomas from Nigeria in some foreign nations where Nigerians, particularly young people, seek out better opportunities.
According to unofficial reports, there are 15 million Nigerians living abroad. Governor Emmanuel claimed that if Nigerians, particularly young people looking for a “better life,” are unable to leave the country once more, a crucial safety valve relieving social tension will be shut off with serious repercussions.
He urged the FG and ASUU to act as statesmen and find a quick solution to the problem in the best interests of everyone.
