Governor Emmanuel Orders Contractors To Complete Projects Before May 2023

Contractors handling the 21.5Km Urua Naira road project have been tasked to expedite action in order to deliver the project before May 2023.

Governor Udom Emmanuel gave the marching order when he inaugurated a 3.340Km Nung Ukim – Ikot Akpa Etok Road in IKONO Local Government Area.

Addressing the people, Governor Emmanuel said the construction of more rural roads was in fulfillment of his campaign promises and in line with the complete agenda of his government, stressing that he will return to inaugurate more rural roads before he leaves office next year.

He applauded youths across the state for their support to contractors in various areas and called for such cooperation in the remaining period.

Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Dr. Bassey Bassey while giving an overview of the project, said an additional 500m spur was added to 2.840Km initially approved by Governor Emmanuel, making it a total of 3.340km.

The road was constructed by an indigenous construction firm,  Hensek Integrated Services, and the Managing Director of the company, Engr Uwem Okoko said the road was constructed with side drainages and has surpassed the engineering standards for roads in rural communities.

The Nung Ukim Ikono road project which comes with a Spur to Ibiaku Ntok Okpo brings to 9km, the total length of roads completed by the Udom Emmanuel administration in that axis of the state.
