Governor Udom Emmanuel says his administration will continue to invest in sports development as a unifying factor.
Governor Emmanuel stated this when he received the management staff of the University of Lagos led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who were at Government House, Uyo to present the National University Games Association – NUGA Torch of Unity to the Governor ahead of the festival to be hosted by the University of Lagos in March.
The Governor who is an alumnus of the University, thanked the management of the school for maintaining the standard of the school, adding that Akwa Ibom State will continue to contribute to the development of sports in the country.

Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor commended the governor for transforming the state and described him as a worthy ambassador of the Institution. According to him, their visit was to identify with the Governor and formally invite him to the sports festival.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the torch of unity for the 2022 NUGA to the Governor by the delegation.
Over 10,000 athletes from 80 universities in the country will take part in the 26th edition of the National University Games
