He said there is still hope for better days for Nigerians, citing the significant gains the Peoples Democratic Party has made as a political party in the country.

Governor Emmanuel stated this while launching the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State Chapter’s e-registration and revalidation exercise in Uyo.

According to Governor Emmanuel, Nigerians’ current adversity has vindicated the PDP, which he believes would have produced better leadership if it still held sway as the ruling party at the center.

On the electronic membership registration and revalidation of the PDP, Governor Emmanuel, who was the first to be enrolled shortly after the exercise began, praised the party for the innovation and for selecting Akwa Ibom as one of the country’s first six states for the pilot launch of the exercise.

Elder Aniekan Akpan, the PDP’s Akwa Ibom State Chairman, described e-registration as “the new regime of a digital era.”

He stated that the idea of electronically registering party membership, which is the first of its kind in the country, sets a new standard of transparency and credibility in the political system, and he urged party members to take the exercise seriously.

In a statement, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Bassey, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Princess Felicia Bassey, Mr. Pat Ifon, who spoke on behalf of Akwa Ibom national assembly members, and the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, commended the initiative and pledged their support to drive massive membership registration in their various areas.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s national leadership launched e-registration and revalidation of membership in August 2021 in order to eliminate the bottlenecks that were common in the previous analog method.
