Akwa Ibom State Government is to complete the proposed 14-Storey Ibom Tropicana Hotel in Uyo to compliment the 4-Star Hotel in Ikot Ekpene.
This is part of the state government strategy to gradually reposition Akwa Ibom at the Centre stage of tourism and investment in the country.
Governor Udom Emmanuel who announced this yesterday during the grand opening and inauguration of Tropicana Mall in Uyo, said the move was to ensure that investments meant for Akwa Ibom people are not allowed to waste.
The atmosphere at the Tropicana mall was that of excitement on the part of investors.
Speaking shortly before inaugurating the mall, Governor Emmanuel said opening the Mall for business was one of the cardinal steps towards developing the asset.
Governor Emmanuel announced that already his administration has linked Tropicana to the National and in addition to other facilities in the State that saying his plan was to create jobs in line with his completion agenda.

Governor Emmanuel who was joined at the inauguration by the immediate Past Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedisha thanked the Host Communities for their cooperation and investors for providing space for indigenous business chain.
Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prince Ukpong Akpabio whose Ministry supervised the project, said the Tropicana mall will not only boost the economic dreams of the State, but will also bridge the gap between the upper and the lower class.
The Managing Director, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, Mr. Elijah Akpan highlighted some facilities in the mall and the services it hopes to offer.
Other speaker including the Managing Director, Tropicana Mall, Engineer Olunide Akisanya and the Chairman, Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for attracting what they termed World Class business place to Akwa Ibom
