Akwa Ibom State Government has acknowledged the contributions of the Nigerian Police Force in maintaining peace and order in the society.
The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno gave the commendations when he received the Inspector General of Police, IG Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun who was on official visit to Akwa Ibom
Pastor Eno who received the Inspector General of Police during a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, described the Police in as one of the critical partners in the fight against crime
Governor Eno informed the Police IG of efforts by Akwa Ibom government to provide the needed amenities to help the force function effectively
He thanked the Police boss, for the choice of Akwa Ibom State to host the Conference of Police Public Relations Officers saying the state was honoured to have the Police Inspector General in Akwa Ibom and commended the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, for his efforts in upholding the objectives of the Force at the State Command and ensuring a healthy working relationship between the Force and the Akwa Ibom public.

The Governor later joined Mr Egbetokun at Havilah Towers Hotel, Uyo, to flag off the Conference of Police Public Relations Officers and Public Relations Expert on the theme, “Enhanced Strategic Communication, Panacea for Effective Policing and Peaceful Coexistence in Nigeria”.
Governor Eno particularly hailed the Public Relations approach of the state police command, as seen in the discharge of their duties in conflict situations, adding that their professionalism was worthy of emulation.
Inspector General thanked the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for their hospitality, warm reception and support to the Police in the State,
The IGP said a robust Police Public Relations was critical to successful policing and tasked men and officers who were participants at the conference to position their minds to take advantage of the rich contents of the conference to improve their professionalism.
