“Artificial Intelligence Engineering and Technology for the 21st Century” was the theme of the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikot Ekpene Branch.
The meeting tagged “Raffia City 2022” spanned for five days at Civic Centre, Smith Close, Abak road; Ikot Ekpene also featured Tech Innovation and exhibition, awards, induction, and lecture.
Setting the tone for the event, the chairman of Ikot Ekpene Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Nsikak Afia said the theme for the event was capable of arousing sensibilities towards effective crime detection, prevention, and control in society in the 21st century and beyond.
Engr. Afia enjoined members to proffer solutions that will stem the tide of crime and make recommendations to the Government for prompt action.
The President and Chairman in council, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil posited that Society has reached an advanced stage in terms of technology for the benefit of humanity.
Engr Gidari-Wudil stated that in no distant time, the Nigerian Society of Engineers will create a reasonable impact in science and technology and commended the Ikot Ekpene branch of the society for staging the event.
In a keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer of Seyang Construction Limited, Engr. Samuel Inyang highlighted the significance of Local Contractors in contributing to National Development.

Engr. Inyang submitted that government should give more opportunities to well-performing and deserving local and national construction companies to carry out major works in the state and country.
He called on the Nigerian Society of Engineers to assist the government to establish standards and maintain the same through appropriate routines and direct involvement through industrial visits and inspections.
Among those bestowed with awards were senator Chris Ekpenyong, Engr. Olive Ebong, Engr. Etido Inyang, Engr. Vera Ntoton, Engr. Akan Michael and Engr. Akaninyene Ekong.
Others are John Itiat, Engr. Otobong Ansa, Prof Eno Ibanga, Obong Michael Afangideh, Pastor Uwem Andrew, and SEMEK Group Nigeria Limited.
The Late Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene, Okuku Augustus Assiak, late Engr. Albert Ekpo, late Engr. Okon Lambert and Late Engr. Ekanem Udoh bagged Post Humor Awards.
