Rasheedat Ajibade scored the only goal in the quarter-final match between Nigeria and Cameroon to send the Super Falcons through to the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, and their ninth consecutive Cup appearance FIFA Women’s World Cup on Thursday.
With the winner assured of a place in Australia and New Zealand next year, both sides were reluctant to concede the opening goal and tried in vain to break through the opposing defenses until Ngozi’s remarkable solo run Okobi ends with a pass to Ifeoma Onumonu, the Ajibade returned home.

Despite Cameroon’s efforts to equalize, Nigeria’s determined defenders refused their attempt to extend the game into extra time.
Qualification means Nigeria are among seven countries to have participated in every FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991 – although the team’s performance in those finals was unimpressive.
Having sealed qualifications for the World Cup, Randy Waldrum and his girls will now focus on maintaining their dominance on the continent by winning a record 10th WAFCON. But first, they have to negotiate next Monday through their host country, Morocco.
