It was a homecoming of sorts for Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, when he paid a post-election “thank you” visit to Uyo Senatorial District for the overwhelming support he garnered during the March 18, 2023 poll
At the occasion, Stakeholders, Ward Executives and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faithful of Uyo Senatorial District converged on Ikot Ekwere, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, the country home of Uyo Senatorial District Leader, Distinguish Senator Effiong Bob to receive their illustrious son.
Addressing supporters, Governor Eno expressed appreciation to the political stalwarts and people of the district for having stood by him and worked for his emergence as Governor of the State, he sued for the continuous support of the people towards the success of his administration.
“We came here this evening, myself, my wife, members of my team, including the Deputy Governor, and all of our team working together to say to Uyo Senatorial District in the house of our distinguished political leader thank you so much.
“Thank you first for having endorsed my candidacy and my aspiration, and standing firmly across party lines to support me..
Governor Eno promised that his administration will deploy the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda model to take development to the hinterland of Uyo Local Government Area by ensuring that it births a signature project, as replicated in other senatorial districts of the State while furthering the Uyo Development Master plan.
“The development of Uyo Capital City is mandatory for every administration since Uyo is the State Capital.
“But it would be more remarkable to develop interior communities within Uyo.
“As we do in other local Governments, there are projects we call signature projects, in Ikot Ekpene we have the international market, In Eket Senatorial District we are working hard to bring investors for the Ibom Deep Sea Port so Uyo must also have a signature project.
“Please note that any project cited at the Wellington Bassey Way is not for Uyo local Government but a State Project”, he noted.
The Governor who assured that his tenure would witness abundance of wealth and developments, warned against divisive tendencies, saying it would be counterproductive to the vision of his administration, and craved for the measure of support enjoyed from the district when others held power.
Earlier, the host and leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, commended the governor for deeming it necessary to go round to appreciate the districts for supporting him to emerge governor of the State in line with his promise during the electioneering process and expressed the delight of the people of the district to receive him as their own.
He said that his people were proud of him and pledged to give him maximum support throughout his stay in office.
Senator Bob also communicated the affirmation of the Uyo people to Governor Eno’s coordinated and impressive strides within his few days in office, lauding the conception and implementation strategy of the A.R.I.S.E Agenda.
On his part, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, led a vote of confidence passed on Governor Umo Eno, followed by the presentation of symbolic gifts by the leader of Uyo Senatorial District to reaffirm the solidarity of the people with the governor.
Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, pointed out that the Governor’s gesture of returning to thank his people spoke volumes of his disposition towards the people of Uyo Senatorial District and therefore, called on the people to rally support for the success of the administration.

Gov Eno Appreciates Eket Senatorial District
Akwa Ibom State Government is set to commence the construction of Orukim-Unyenge Road in Mbo Local Government Area to create access to the site of the underway Ibom Deep Seaport project.
The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, made this known during a “Thank You Visit” to Eket Senatorial District, held at the residence of the leader of the Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien, in Ntaisip, Ikot Ibiok, Eket LGA .
Governor Eno, who used the occasion to address salient issues raised by stakeholders of the twelve local government areas of the District also directed the commencement of Ikot Ubo-Nsit Atai Road project to ease the movement of people from the Eket axis to the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.
According to Governor Eno, the visit was to acknowledge and thank the people of Eket Senatorial District for the overwhelming support towards his emergence as governor in the last general elections, in fulfilment of his promise to maintain a relationship with the people beyond seeking their votes.
He said, “I have come today to say thank you to the twelve local governments that make up the Eket senatorial district. Thank you very much for your support during our electioneering campaigns. Sometimes I feel like I should move from house to house but I believe that our engagement in life-touching projects is also a means of expressing our gratitude to you.”
He assured that his government will make conscious efforts through interventions and execution of development projects that will positively impact the people of the rural areas and further enthrone peace in the state, urging stakeholders and leaders to address delicate issues with wisdom and caution, to avoid crisis, adding that they should promote peace to enhance development.
“Every year, we go to them and appeal for votes, but after that, we go and never care to return. These ones do not feel the impact of the Government. Let’s return to them and provide schools, markets and hospitals. Projects will go round.
“That is why we have resolved that we will not take your votes for granted. We will put in all our efforts to serve Akwa Ibom State to ensure that we do the best we can to the glory of God”, he assured.
Reacting to issues arising from the One Project-Per-Local Government Initiative of his administration, the State’s Chief Executive urged stakeholders to play down the struggle for political leadership but work together in harmony in the choice of projects to enable his government actualize its development plans for people at the grassroots.
The governor assured that in the course of time, he would appoint a Special Assistant on Youth from each Federal Constituency who would be expected to work with the Senior Special Assistant on Youth for effective handling of issues concerning youths in the state.
The Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, in her goodwill message, sued for time, understanding and cooperation from the people, assuring that Governor Umo Eno’s administration came ready to serve the people.
Also, the Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson enunciated the strong footing of leadership set by Governor Umo Eno since his assumption of office and, on behalf of the people of Eket Senatorial District, passed a vote of confidence on the governor.
Other stakeholders including the political leader of Eket Senatorial District and former Minister, Chief Nduese Essien, Chief Okon Etuk, who spoke on behalf of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, Dan Abia for Eket Federal Constituency, former SSG, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem for Oron Federal Constituency and Ikpoto Okon Osung, applauded Governor Umo Eno’s approach to governance, pledging their support to the success of his government.
High point of the visit was a vote of confidence passed on Governor Umo Eno as captured in a motion moved by the Senator representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate, Senator Ekong Sampson, seconded by former lawmaker, Peter Linus Umoh and unanimously endorsed by the people of Eket Senatorial District.
