It was brief but eventful, with a roll call of who is who in Uyo Senatorial District, and a cheery grin on the hosts of the party. Pastor Umo Eno’s campaign council voyaged to the Ewet Housing residence of Senator Effiong Bob to consult political stakeholders over his gubernatorial ambition.
Another rare moment that produced a sense of satisfaction, happiness and optimism. True, Umo Eno got more than he bargained for. Uyo senatorial district elders, delegates, leaders, and stakeholders across all strata had not only endorsed his ambition but adopted him as their sole candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.
Speaker after speaker, including leader of the district, Senator Effiong Bob, Lady Ime Essien Udom (Etinan Federal Constituency), a former Secretary to the State Government, Obonganwan Grace Ekong (Itu Federal Constituency), and Obong T. O. Akpan (Uyo Federal Constituency) all described Pastor Umo Eno as a “tested and proven candidate” and the right man for the job.
Umo Eno, from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area in Uyo Senatorial District, this endorsement by the very people whose turn it is to produce the next governor under the zoning arrangement in the state, may just be the icing on the cake.
The import of this declaration is that Uyo senatorial district has taken their destiny in their own hands and are bound to sink or swim with what is not only their choice, but collective decision.
No one people takes such a gamble without conviction. And the compelling testimonies across the length and breadth of the state which he has consulted so far is that the man has met all the criteria for the number one job in the state.
To be sure, long before now, nearly all the people in the entire state had built their opinion around having what they called a homegrown governor. The sentiment about the frequent practice of governors “importing” their successors from Lagos, was almost difficult to quiet down.

Now, that dream of having someone who has lived in the state all of his life, invested and reaped in the state; knows and understands the common problems of the people, has been achieved in Umo Eno.
Added to this is the fact that this same Umo Eno has provided employment opportunities for many who were not able to put food on their tables.
Umo Eno has demonstrated enough capacity to manage human and material resources. This feat has once again fulfilled our crave for a seasoned private sector person to clear the infamous red- tapism and lead the state on the path of progress. And Umo Eno is the real quality.
At every stop point, Pastor Umo Eno’s message is well received. He has revealed himself to the people who can now appreciate his hidden talent beyond the face value, as against the hate being spread by opponents.
An Umo Eno government stands for continued peace, progress and development. Every lover of progress should join hands and give him the chance to further the good deeds of the present administration. Akwa Ibom, “bo eno”… It’s all about you!
