China was subjected to the first round of travel restrictions in January 2020. Since then, the restriction has been extended to encompass non-US individuals who have recently visited the United Kingdom, the European Schengen group, Brazil, Ireland, India, Iran, and South Africa.
Those who are allowed to enter the nation must show documentation of a negative Covid test within three days of their arrival.
Despite objections from airlines and the tourism industry, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced last week that the US would “keep existing travel restrictions at this time” owing to rising infections.
The administration is working to reopen in a “safe and sustainable” manner, according to an unnamed White House source, who also stated that “with limited exclusions… foreign nationals traveling to the United States from all nations – must be fully vaccinated.” More than 70% of adults in the United States have had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.
According to officials, instances are on the rise in a number of states, with a record number of hospitalizations in Florida. Many cities and businesses around the United States are enacting new policies requiring individuals to wear masks in public spaces.
