Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Aniekan Bassey says non-indigenes residing in the state would continue to enjoy peace, and opportunities available to other citizens.
The Speaker acknowledged that for the first time a non-indigene, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole has been appointed an Aide to the Governor, describing the appointment as proof of the openness of the State administration to non indigene.
Mr. Bassey assured that State House of Assembly under his watch will continuously support the executive to create a peaceful environment for all resident of Akwa Ibom to thrive.
The Speaker was speaking in Uyo when the Arewa People’s Assembly rolled out the drums to celebrate the appointment of its Chairman, Mr. Ogbole as Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring.
While acknowledging the support, contributions of the Arewa peoples’ Assembly to the Udom led administration the Speaker charged the group to exhibit peaceful relations in their daily endeavours, while praying constantly for the good of Akwa Ibom.
Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project monitoring, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole had applauded the cordial relationship between the executive and Legislative arms of government, describing it as commendable.
Mr. Ogbole expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity given him to serve as his aide, noting that the Arewa People’s Assembly sees the gesture as a remarkable honour done the group.
He pledged to discharge his duties effectively while promising the unflinching support and loyalty of the group to the present administration.
Mr. Ogbole, explained that the Arewa People’s Assembly is a Socio-Cultural organization which serves as an umbrella body of people from the three geo-political zones of the North-Central, North-East and North-West which form the Northern part of the country.

He said the aim of the group was to foster unity among people of different sub-ethnic groups of Northern extraction that are resident in Akwa Ibom as well as promote peaceful co-existence with their host community.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki who is also Vice President General, Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs commended Governor Emmanuel’s detribalized leadership.
He called on other state Governors to toe the line of the Akwa Ibom state’s Chief executive by bringing in non indigenes into their administrations.
A talk on peaceful co-existence was presented by Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed at the interaction.
