The State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of Akwa Ibom Students in all tertiary institutions across the country.
Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet who made the reaffirmation at a parley with leaders of various students’ bodies, assured that plans were underway for award of grants and scholarships to some indigent students.
Addressing the students on several issues presented before her including insecurity, resolution of AKSU matters, award of grants and scholarships, funding to aid campaigns that are beneficial to students, the Commissioner said the state gov3ernment placed premium on education and was doing all in its powers to ensure there are tangible reforms in the sector.

On the issue of the ongoing strike at AKSU, the Commissioner assured that deliberations were ongoing, towards smooth resolutions in all grey areas in the institution.
Mrs. Etiebet advised the students to be good ambassadors in their various institutions and continue to campaign against cultism and all social vices.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Lady Rose Bassey while setting to tone for the meeting assured that the ministry would always mediate on their behalf.
