Akwa Ibom attorney apprehended by police following allegations of domestic violence against his spouse, A 55-year-old lawyer, Ekeere Ebong, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom Police Command following allegations of domestic violence against his wife.
The arrest was made after a video of the incident, in which Ebong allegedly assaulted and dehumanized his wife, went viral. The victim sustained severe injuries as a result of the attack.1

According to Mr. Macdon Odiko, the Public Relations Officer of the police command, Ebong has a history of perpetrating violent acts against his wife. The police, as an agency responsible for safeguarding lives, property, and maintaining law and order, took immediate action to prevent further abuse and potential harm. The arrest was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, upon the advice of the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy.
The statement issued by Odiko emphasized that the arrest was necessary to prevent potential murder and maintain societal order. The Commissioner of Police also warned individuals involved in violent crimes to cease their actions, while urging families to seek amicable resolutions to disputes rather than resorting to violence.
Once the investigation is concluded, Ebong will be brought before a court of law to face the appropriate legal consequences for his alleged actions..
