The Director General Akanimo Udofia Campaign Organization. Chief Don Etim says the driving force behind the organization is the fact that it is a divine project that will bring the people of Akwa Ibom together after the swearing of Obong Akan Udofia as the governor of the state in May 2023.

He said the campaign organization believes in the person of Akan Udofia, who he is, what he stands for, and the capacity he has as a leader.

Campaigning for Obong Udofia, chief Etim said it was borne out of a deep conviction for this generation at this time he sees his principal be a light for the Akwa Ibom people.

Chief Etim who was discussing with some top journalists in Akwa Ibom said that the coming of Akan Udofia will help the people of the state to have a sense of belonging noting that his administration will not be a family of people where everything begins and ends within a few people.

He said everyone has the right to share in what the government is doing to help them prosper.

One of the reasons for poverty in the state chief Etim said is the lack of decentralization of power and that the need to make every local government independent was paramount for Akan Udofia in order for local authorities to grow their economy for the sake of development at the grassroots.

Chief Etim who was part of former governor Godswill Akpabio’s government that brought most of the development in Akwa Ibom state did not agree that the state government should have control over local government authorities which he said was the problem of underdevelopment in rural areas.

He frowned at a situation where local government chairmen were

handpicked by state governors, a situation he described as unfair because it does not allow for the participation of stakeholders in governance at the local level.

The campaign director general told the journalists that every Akwa Ibom person whether educated or not will have what to do during the time of Obong Udofia as the governor of the state.

In the newness to the state of affairs of Akwa Ibom by Akan Udofia, Chief Etim said the governorship candidate is not new to Akwa Ibom and its people as he was born in the state, had his education in Akwa Ibom, pays his tax in the state as part of his commitment to the development of Akwa Ibom and carryout humanitarian jobs within the state like a building of schools and churches as well as medical outreaches.

Chief Etim who frowned at youths running after convoys of government officials and personalities because of the lack of jobs said Obong Udofia will put in place programmes that will help terminate the suffering of every Akwa Ibom person.

On the crack in the affairs of the All Progressive Congress party, Chief Etim said with the withdrawal of the case from the court by Dominic Utuk and the recent Uyo Senatorial District elders and stakeholders meeting, the crack is no more exciting.

He urged the people of the state to see the need of bringing in a new breed on board the state of affairs of Akwa Ibom in the coming governorship election.
