The Chairman of Akwa United club, Elder Paul Bassey says he has asked players of his club to stay away from his office if they put on earrings.
Paul Bassey who was answering questions from journalists in the cause of unveiling a new coach for Akwa United showed bitterness over the mood of dressing of some players.
‘Please if you are coming to my office I don’t want to see you with earrings, another chairman may be different, it does not seem well with me’ and hinted that he is old fashioned.
Elder Bassey who specifically noted that a certain player was putting on one earring but later had two on is still with the club.

He told the gathering that he is comfortable signing on a coach for a season but that the contract can be renegotiated depending on the performance of the coach
However, Coach Fatai Osho has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Akwa United Football Club on a one-year contract.
Osho replaces Coach Ayodeji Ayeni, whose contract with the Promise Keepers was not renewed after it expired at the end of the previous season.
It is not too clear why Coach Ayodeji Ayeni’s contract was renewed but it is on record that Akwa United management does not keep coaches for too long.
Osho served as Chief Coach of Rivers United during their 2021–2022 NPFL championship campaign.
At a brief unveiling earlier Wednesday, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey, introduced the gaffer to journalists and stakeholders.
Bassey who described Osho as an experienced tactician who is capable of bringing Akwa United back to title-winning ways and continental reckoning assured him of the support of the state government and stakeholders in order to make his job easier while urging him to apply his wealth of experience to the performance of his duties.

In his response, Osho stated that it was an honor to be chosen as the head coach of “an accomplished club” like Akwa United and revealed that the allure of working with a “top-notch professional” like Elder Paul Bassey made it simple for him to accept Akwa United’s offer among the many that he had.
He expressed gratitude to the Akwa Ibom state government for recognizing his merit and pledged to put in a lot of effort to help Akwa United win awards and quickly return to playing in the continental league.
Osho, who has over twelve years of experience and has previously held managerial positions with Supreme Court FC, Kogi United, Remo Stars, and Enyimba, among others, will take over the Akwa United dugout for the upcoming 2023–2024 Nigerian domestic football season.
