Senator Bassey Albert‘s efforts to halt the use of the April 30, 2022, Adhoc delegates list for PDP congresses in Akwa Ibom State failed on Wednesday when the Federal High Court in Abuja directed that the status quo be preserved while adjourning the case to Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
On Wednesday, Ahmed Raji, SAN, represented the Plaintiffs in the case Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/606/2022- RT. HON. FRIDAY IWOK &ORS V. INEC & Anor, while Paul Usoro, SAN, and Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN, represented the PDP and the 987 adhoc delegates.
While former Akwa Ibom State Attorney General, Uwemedimo Nwoko SAN, filed a Counter Affidavit Opposing the Originating Summons and a Counter Affidavit Opposing the Motion for Interlocutory Injunction, former Akwa Ibom State Attorney General, Paul Usoro, SAN, filed a Motion for Joinder of the 987 Adhoc Delegates elected on the 30th of April,
The Court ordered that the status quo be maintained in its decision.

This means that the legitimacy of both the Statutory and Adhoc delegates lists will remain unchanged until the substantive problems are resolved, and the matter will be heard on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022.
With this latest court ruling, both Statutory and Ad-hoc delegates will vote in the House of Assembly primary on May 21, 2022, House of Representative’s primary on May 22, 2022, Senatorial primary on May 23, and governorship primary on May 25, 2022, before departing for Abuja for the PDP presidential candidate’s election on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 2022.
