Governor Emmanuel has awarded contract worth N3b in Akwa Ibom State University for various projects
The state governor announced this at the State Executive Council meeting which he presided over at government house, Uyo.
Far reaching decisions were made during the state executive council session and other issues concerning general development in the state discussed.
Commissioner for information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong while briefing Government House reporters, Wednesday, said the decision to inject funds for various contracts in AKSU was to meet infrastructural needs in the institution.
Still on Education, Comrade Ini Ememobong said council deliberated on a comprehensive scholarship proposal for undergraduates and post graduate students of Akwa Ibom origin, a move which he noted would offer better opportunities for Akwa Ibom students when finalized.
On environment, the Information commissioner said Governor Emmanuel has directed relevant ministries and agencies to take proactive steps to maintain a clean environment.
According to Comrade Ememobong, the state’s executive council also received status report on Covid-19 and directed the ministry of health to monitor global performance status and adverse reaction rate of all vaccines currently being administered.
He conveyed state government’s commendation to health workers in the state for their diligence in the fight against covid-19 since the virus broke out globally late 2019.
