Health Workers: Nigeria Sets Up Panel to Resolve Dispute Over Salary Structure

The Nigerian government has set up a seven-man committee to finalize changes in the new Consolidated Health Salary Structure for individuals from Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations.

CONHESS salary scale applies to health workers which incorporates attendants, drug specialists, physiotherapists, clinical research center researchers, and radiographers.

Membership  of the advisory group involves two agents of JOHESU and one delegate every one of the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission, Budget Office, Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment , Federal Ministry of Health, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.

The setting up of the board came similarly as JOHESU has chosen to retain its modern activity, which would have started for the current week, following the result of the panel’s investigation .

In an statement endorsed by the National Chairman of JOHESU, Josiah Biobelemoye in Abuja, the association said it was important to give government the advantage of uncertainty in the execution of CONHESS.

“JOHESU leadership investigated the entirety of the meeting of October 6, 2021, at the instance of the federal government team involving National Salaries Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Budget Office, Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment (FML&E), Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSOF), Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), which was graced by JOHESU/AHPA authority.

“After an exhaustive assessment of the gathering, JOHESU/AHPA settled as follows: we extol the choice of the gathering to ensure the cooperation of all the five Trade Unions and AHPA at the meetings identifying with issues relating to Adjustment of CONHESS, noticing with solid accentuation that this ensures the commendable soul of participatory modern majority rules system.

“We likewise welcome the constitution of a 7-man specialized group at the gathering containing two (2) Representatives of JOHESU, and one delegate every one of the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Budget Office, Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment (FML&E), Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSOF), Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).”
