Imoh Attat has expressed sadness over accident involving players and officials of Akwa United Football club describing it as one of the hazards of the game.

Speaking with a starwitness Sports Correspondent in Uyo, the acting chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, thanked God for sparing the lives of the players and officials.

Mr. Attat hoped that the accident will be a source of inspiration to the Uyo based side to strive to get a continental ticket and prayed for the speedy recovery of injured personnel.

The Football Association chairman commended the show of love towards Akwa United by fans and supporters within and outside the state and singled out Governor Udom Emmanuel for footing the medical bills of the injured personnel.

While describing such display of concern as commendable, Mr. Attat called for more support for the team including its counterparts, Dakkada, Ibom Youth and Ibom Angels in the area of provision of welfare packages.

He advised fans of all the teams to abide by the directive of Nigeria Football Federation stopping fans from the stadium to watch live matches as they are played behind closed door.

While appreciating their love for the club, Mr. Attat explained that failure to keep to the directive could lend to dire consequences for the terms.

On the election of NFF president, Mr. Amaji Pinnick, Mr. Attat described it as well deserved and urged Mr. Pinnick to use his new office as FIFA executive committee member to grow football both in administration and officiating.
