NPFL Match-day 15 clash between Jigawa Golden Stars and Akwa United earlier scheduled to take place in Kaduna Sunday has been postponed by the League Management Company, LMC, organizers of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
A letter dated Friday, 12th March, 2021 and signed by the LMC Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar, stated that a new date for the match will be communicated to the parties involved.
The LMC sympathized with the Management, Staff and Players of Akwa United over the sad incident and regret any inconveniences the postponement may have caused all involved.
The postponement newsmen learnt is due to team Akwa United’s involvement in an auto crash on Friday morning on their way to Kaduna to honour the game.
The Players and officials of Akwa United football club were involved in road accident in Enugu.
The team was on their way to Kaduna for the Nigerian Professional Football League match-day 15 against Jigawa Golden Stars.
Media Officer of the club, Mr. Mfon Patrick had said that the incident has left injuries on players and officials of the club.
He stated that one player and two officials were taken to the hospital.

With this, Akwa United FC have become the third Nigerian club side to involve in road accident on their way to honor the NPFL game this season.
Kwara United and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi have also faced similar thing this year.
Meanwhile, the other centers for the NPFL match day fifteen is expected to bubble with actions as Dakkada FC in Uyo center is ready to face Katsina United Sunday .
The match will kick off by 4pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Dakkada FC are eighth on the NPFL log with twenty points from fourteen games while the guests, Katsina United sit seventeenth on the table with fifteen points from fourteen games.
In other fixtures, table toppers, Kwara United will host eleventh placed Heartland FC of Owerri, Second placed Enugu Rangers will welcome Adamawa United who are at the bottom of the league table and Kano Pillars, third on the log will be guests to Abia Warriors.
It will be Lobi Stars versus Plateau United, Wikki Tourists against Warri Wolves, Sunshine Star will lock horns with Nasarawa United, MFM will host Enyimba International while Rivers United will travel to Nnewi to slug it out against FC Ifeanyi Uba.
