Despite facing a 12-point deficit in the first half, the Timberwolves rallied back, with Anthony Edwards’ basket in the third quarter knotting the score at 77-all, marking the onset of a fiercely contested period featuring 10 ties in the subsequent 13 minutes. However, pivotal plays from PJ Washington, coupled with stellar performances from Doncic, Irving, and Daniel Gafford, ultimately propelled the Mavericks to victory.

Gafford’s impact was particularly noteworthy, stepping up in the absence of back-up center Dereck Lively II, who exited the game in the third quarter due to a strained neck. Gafford’s defensive prowess, highlighted by a crucial block on Mike Conley’s lay-up attempt and a subsequent three-point play, proved instrumental in securing the win for Dallas.

Reflecting on the team’s strategy and resilience, Doncic emphasized the collective effort and ball movement that underpin their success: “They tried to double me the whole game, they tried to double Kyrie. That just makes us better. Everybody touches the ball, everybody makes plays. That’s what helps us win. We come down to the stretch and we execute.”

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics maintain a commanding 3-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers, setting the stage for an intriguing showdown in game four in Indianapolis, where the Celtics aim to clinch their spot in the NBA Finals.
