The National Council on Science, Technology and Innovation for major strides in the sector has commended Akwa ibom State Government for major strides in the sector.
The commendation came at the just concluded 18th meeting of the National Council on Science, Technology and Innovation held in Abuja.
The State’s delegates to the conference, led by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Imoh Moffat presented three memoranda at the meeting.
They included, Partnership efforts of the State government with a Chinese Conglomerate, Blue Sea International Holdings, collaboration by the Ministry of Science and Technology with Technology Research and Development Laboratory and Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology; and establishment of National Research Institute for Chemical Technology Outstation and Entrepreneurial Centre in Akwa Ibom State.
The meeting with the theme, “Utilization of Science, Technology and Innovation for post COVID-19 Socio-Economic Recovery and Sustainability” was held at Raw Materials Research and Development Council Conference Hall, Abuja from November 23rd to 27th; this year and featured Technical and Ministerial Sessions.
In his keynote address on the occasion, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu emphasized the need for the Country to aim towards becoming a super power by positioning Science, Technology and Innovation in its operations and activities.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Edet Akpan charged the participants to chart a pathway for utilization of Science, Technology and Innovation in the recovery efforts of the Country from COVID-19 pandemic and in the post COVID-19 era.
Critical resolutions that would improve the fortunes of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Country were made at the meeting.
