People at the grassroots have been urged to obtain their PVC in order to fully participate in the upcoming general election.

The Oku Ibibio and President of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, Nteyin Dr. Solomon Daniel Etuk, made the appeal when the Ethical And Reorientation Commission board members paid him a courtesy visit at his palace at his country residence in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium local government area.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio, who also serves as the paramount ruler of the Nsit Ubium local government area, noted that as a longtime member of a constituted authority, he is fully aware of every citizen’s fundamental rights.

Nteyin Etuk urged the populace to remain calm because both the national and state elections this year will be free and fair.

The monarch claimed that as a result of his pragmatic approach to leading his subjects, he had extended his goodwill to his community by inviting Central Bank of  Nigeria representatives to the area so that residents could easily exchange their old currencies notes for new ones.

He urged the youths to uphold their responsibility by encouraging others to cast ballots on election day, hoping that their efforts would never go in vain. He also prayed for the state’s leadership to uphold the integrity of the state flag.

Speaking earlier, the commission’s chairwoman, Dr. Dorathy Thompson, said it was important to consult the monarch because of his practical leadership as a father to all, as well as to let him know about the voter sensitization campaign the commission is about to launch in the state, particularly among those at the grassroots.

Since the board was established for the sensitization campaign in rural areas, Dr. Dorathy noted that the Oku Ibom Ibibio palace was the first to consult to be consulted.

She claims that the commission has started the campaign on several occasions, expressing the hope that this year’s events will be different because they have made the right decision by asking the monarch for his blessings in order to have a successful tour.

She emphasized that the commission was prepared to embark on a successful tour and that they had already publicized the voter sensitization campaign through jingles, news promos, and ethical conduct regarding the electoral process.
