Nigerian Police in Oron have gunned down four pirates in Ikang Creek and recovered one W23 boat mounted with a one hundred and fifteen Horse Power Yamaha outboard engine, two Riffles and six rounds of live ammunition.

A police statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, said the Marine Police operatives acting on credible intelligence embarked on a sting operation in Ikang Creek, Oron where they were confronted by pirates numbering about thirty two in four speed boats armed with sophisticated weapons.
The Police statement said, the pirates on sighting the Marine police operatives opened fire and in the ensuing gun battle, four of the Pirates were killed while others escaped.
In the same vein, operatives of “D” Division Itam arrested one Imoh Daniel and have recovered one locally made Pistol, one live cartridge, expended cartridges, one axe, one Machete and face masks from hoodlums in Itam, Itu Local Government.

The Police release said, operatives while responding to distress call on 28th March at about 2:50 am mobilized to Church Road, Itam.
According to the police statement, hoodlums operating in the area, on sighting the police opened fire, and the police responded.
In the process one Nsikak, a male sustained bullet wounds and later died in the hospital.
