Activation of new SIM card in Nigeria has been approved by the Federal Government with mandatory National Identity Number, linking starting from Monday, April 19, 2021.
This was made known in a statement by the Technical Assistant Information Technology to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Femi Adeluyi.
According to him, the development of a revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM card registration in collaboration with other stakeholders was led by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami
It would be recalled that few months ago, the Federal Government had banned the purchase and registration of new SIM cards by Nigerians, which had created a lot of tension and inconveniences for mobile phone subscribers whose SIM cards were either damaged or misplaced
