President Buhari has directed the immediate reactivation of the Aluminum Smelter Company in Ikot Abasi.
The Minister of State for Mines and Steel disclosed this today when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo.
Similarly, a Multi-Billion Naira conglomerate, the BUA Group has nominated Akwa Ibom State for a five Billion Naira Healthcare and Social Development Grant.
This is contained in its letter delivered to Governor Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo.
During the meeting, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah said he was in the state to seek ways of collaboration and synergy with the Akwa Ibom state Government to discover the natural minerals deposited in Akwa Ibom for miners to move in.

This he explained will enable Akwa Ibom to earn the 13% revenue approved by the federal government.
According to Dr. Ogah, over dependence on oil had removed attention from minerals and agriculture, a development that needs to be reversed to provide revenue for the states and country.
He informed the Governor of his desire to visit the ALSCON plant at IkotAbasi to assess what needs to be done towards ensuring its reactivation.
Governor Udom Emmanuel expressed his appreciation to the President for the development and pledged his commitment to efforts that will speedily ensure that ALSCON is back on its feet.
The Governor also received a delegation from BUA Group led by Group Executive Director, Kabiru Rabiu who presented a letter of nomination from the ASR Africa fund of five billion naira to AkwaIbom State for health care development, from the organization which spends 100 million dollars every year on health care delivery, and education.
Governor Udom Emmanuel thanked the Chairman of ASR Africa, who is also the Chairman of BUA for his partnership with the state, which he said will be used to run a tertiary health care facility.
