After Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has reacted to the team’s goalkeeping problems.
Francis Uzoho, who came in to replace the injured Maduka Okoye, committed a costly error that cost the Super Eagles the game.
The goalie let a strike from Ghana captain Thomas Partey, who plays for Arsenal, wriggle under his body and into the net.
Nigeria was also eliminated from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt due to a goalie error by Daniel Akpeyi.
A similar scenario unfolded in Cameroon, where Okoye’s gaffe led to the Super Eagles’ elimination in the Round of 16 by Tunisia.

“It’s past time for us to face the future and keep going forward.”
On Channels Television, Enyeama remarked, “I don’t want to assign responsibility.”
“I listened to what George said the other time, that there will never be another Jay-Jay Okocha, just as there will never be another Vincent Enyeama, and that is the truth.
“You cannot truly appreciate what I achieved for Nigeria; only time will tell.”
“I’m going to say we’re going to have to make do with what we’ve got.”
I didn’t witness much of the match, but the truth is that there is only one Vincent Enyeama, and all we have to do now is encourage and support him; these kids want confidence.
“It’s unfortunate that everyone was discussing goalkeeping before the game.
To live up to the hype, these people have to put in a lot of effort.
In Uzoho, everyone wants another Vincent Enyeama, and in Akpeyi and Okoye, everyone wants another Vincent Enyeama, which is very difficult and puts a lot of pressure on the young men.”
