Akwa Ibom Budget Office has commenced this year’s bilateral discussions with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDA’s as part of its statutory responsibility to provide a realistic budget for the state next year.
Head, State Budget Office, Elder Otu Asuquo who said the exercise will be taking place at the conference room of the Budget Office, Governor’s Office Annex, Uyo, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for granting approval as well as creating the enabling environment for the Office to perform its statutory responsibility with global best practices.
Elder Asuquo said the Committee set up for the exercise was constituted to interact with MDAs with a view to delivering effective, efficient, and realistic budgetary policies for the State.
He, therefore, appealed to all MDAs to strictly follow their stipulated date and time as contained in the call circular and stressed the need for them to comply accordingly as the budget was expected to be submitted to the House of Assembly for deliberation by the end of September this year.
The Committee is headed by the Commissioner for Finance and members from selected MDAs including Ministries of Finance, Women Affairs, Economic Development, Internal revenue Service, Department of Establishment, State Budget Office, State Auditor General, Accountant General Office, and Fiscal Responsibility Board.

At the beginning of the hearing, the State Civil Service Commission and Executive Council Secretariat appeared.
MDAs billed to appear before the Committee today are the Bureau of Technical Matters, Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Department of Establishment, Ethical and Attitudinal Re-orientation Commission, General Services Office among others.
The exercise ends on July 20.
